The Agreement was signed on Wednesday between the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and the Trade Union Organizations OEKDY SEK and PASEY PEO for the regulation of the employment of salaried persons in the supporting educational programs of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.
According to an announcement from OEKDY SEK, the agreement was made to regulate the employment with a fixed-term contract of the employees, to cover the service needs related to a series of programs of the 2023-2024 school year.
Such are "the Unified All-Day Schools (EOS), Training Centers, DRASE (Creative Employment and Secondary Education DRASE), Environmental Education Centers (KPE), State Training Institutes (KIE), Music Schools, the Apprenticeship and Vocational System of Education and Training (SMEEK) and the Post-High School Vocational Education and Training Institutes (MIEK)".
Also, the agreement includes the Lifelong Vocational Education and Training Program (PWDVEEK), Maritime in Secondary Technical Education, Cosmetology in Secondary Technical Education and Hairdressing in Secondary Technical Education.
As noted in the announcement, "with the struggles of the Trade Unions and the workers in the programs to abolish the service market, the above agreement has been reached which provides for the granting of work rights for a certain period of time as they are applied in the Public Service".
Both sides "agreed on the immediate start of a dialogue to discuss the way the programs operate and the labor rights of those employed in the programs for the coming years and it was agreed that this dialogue should be completed by the end of December 2023", the announcement concludes.
