Sales at petrol stations in December 7,5 showed a decrease of 2022% compared to the corresponding month of 2021, according to data released on Friday by the Cyprus Statistical Service.

Total oil inventories at the end of December 2022 increased by 3,6% compared to the end of the previous month.

Total sales of petroleum products in December reached 118.203 tonnes, down 8,7% compared to December 2021.

There was a decrease in oil supplies to ships (-42,5%), as well as sales of asphalt (-55,4%), kerosene (-39,9%), heating oil (-18,8%) and motor oil ( -1,8%). Conversely, an increase was recorded in the supply of oil to airplanes (13,5%), as well as in the sales of heavy and light fuel oil (62,8% and 4,3% respectively) and gasoline (0,2%).

Total sales of petroleum products in the month of December 2022 compared to November 2022 increased by 2,8%. Indicatively, the sales of gasoline (7,5%) and diesel (0,8%) increased, while on the contrary, the supply of oil to airplanes decreased (-15,0%).

Increase in total sales of petroleum products in 2022

Total sales of petroleum products in the year 2022 showed an increase of 9,9% compared to 2021. Oil supplies to aircraft and ships increased by 67,7% and 8,0% respectively, while increases were also noted in sales of light fuel oil ( 13,8%), heating oil (12,4%), LPG (10,3%) and petrol (1,6%). On the contrary, reductions were observed in sales of asphalt (-26,5%) and diesel (-4,0%). In 2022, sales from petrol stations amounted to 654.073 tons, showing a slight decrease of -0,9% compared to 2021.
