The possibility of reporting the members of the Sports Ethics and Protection Committee to the Attorney General of the Republic regarding the commission of a criminal offense will be studied by the lawyers of the President of the KOP Giorgos Koumas.
In relation to the conclusion of the investigation of the Ethics and Protection Committee of Sports, according to which Mr. Koumas is incompatible, the lawyers Christos M. Triantafyllidis and Marios Orfanidis, come back today with their announcement on the matter, responding to yesterday's second and lengthy Commission announcement.
Stating initially that they fundamentally disagree with the content of this second announcement, the lawyers of Mr. Koumas note that there will be no answer on this substance for the same reasons they mention in their announcement yesterday, insisting on its content.
"Unfortunately, however, we cannot leave unmarked the fact that the Sports Ethics and Protection Committee, in its attempt to "play a communication game", may have violated Article 8 of Law 180(I)/2017 on the duty of confidentiality", they report in today's announcement.
At the same time, they point out that the violation of the Law, based on the provisions of the said article, constitutes a criminal offense for which fines and/or imprisonment are provided.
"As a matter of fact, any further action by the Commission in relation to our client is imbued with illegality and a complete lack of impartiality and, by extension, void ab initio," they state.
The lawyers state that as a matter of duty, they will study "the possibility of reporting the members of the Commission to the Attorney General of the Republic regarding the commission of a criminal offense".
