The Pancyprian Confederation of Federations of Parents' Associations of Public Secondary Schools supports the request of the Association of Biology Teachers OELMEK for laboratoryization of the Biology course and fully agrees with the reasons that insist on the laboratoryization of the course.

In its announcement, the Confederation states that the laboratoryization of Biology, especially in the Lyceum, is necessary for the graduates to be able to respond to the best possible degree, in the curricula of the Departments of Biology and Medicine of the Universities, in Cyprus and abroad.

He points out that the Biology lesson in the laboratory is also important for the Gymnasiums in order to prepare for the continuation of their study in the Lyceum. He adds that it raises questions about the fact that the rest of the Natural Sciences courses are taught both theoretically and in the laboratory, but in Biology the teaching is done only theoretically.

Although, they say, we know that Biology laboratories have been set up and equipped in schools, we are sorry that they remain useless and we ask that the decision be made to be used by children.

"We call on the Ministry of Education to take all appropriate actions and to proceed with the laboratoryization of the Biology course in the Gymnasiums and Lyceums. "This decision, in addition to the benefits to children and learning outcomes, will also eliminate the inequality that exists today between the children of public schools in Cyprus and the children of European countries where Biology is taught in laboratories", the announcement concludes.
