A 21-year-old woman is being treated at the Paphos General Hospital after she was injured in a car accident that happened yesterday afternoon in Paphos.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, yesterday at 15:40, a 21-year-old man, while driving a rental car on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue in Paphos, headed north at a point on the road and under conditions that the Paphos Traffic Police is investigating, entered on the right lane of the road, according to its course and collided with another vehicle, driven from the opposite direction by a 21-year-old permanent resident of Paphos.

From the collision, the driver of the second vehicle was injured and transported by ambulance to the Accident Department of the Paphos General Hospital and after receiving first aid, he was then kept in the operating room of the Paphos General Hospital.

Her health condition is out of danger.

The driver of the first vehicle underwent a preliminary alcohol test with an indication of 93 mg instead of 22 mg which is the permissible limit. He was then taken to the Paphos Traffic Police for a final indication of alcohol, however he did not give satisfactory exhalation samples.

The Paphos Traffic Police are investigating against him the offenses of negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol. The two vehicles involved suffered extensive damage. Paphos Traffic Police is investigating the case.
