The "electricity authority" announced that the price of electricity is increasing by 15% in the occupied territories.

According to the GTP, the local press reports that the increase that was initially announced was around 31%, but then it was reduced to 15%. It is also reported that the summer electricity pricing period ended today and the new triple winter tariff comes into effect tomorrow.

In the meantime, in order to cover the energy deficit observed in the occupied territories, the Turkish private electricity company AKSA transferred to the occupied territories 2 generators with a capacity of 35 megawatts with the aim of increasing production, but also to deal with the issue of purchasing electricity from "southern Cyprus ", as the Republic of Cyprus is called, against the payment of large sums.

Cyprus writes today that the generators which were transported yesterday to the port of occupied Famagusta from the port of Mersina by a ship flying the flag of Panama, will be put into operation by the end of the year.

In his statements on the matter, the assistant director of AKSA at the Gastria power station, Mustafa Guedeyer, said that once the generators are put into operation, the energy production will increase by 35 megawatts and from 153 megawatts it will reach 188 megawatts.

Mr. Guedeyer added that with this step the energy needs that exist in the "country" will be covered and the network will be decongested.
