Hermes Airports announced today the start of a direct air connection between Cyprus and Kazakhstan, following the arrival of the first Air Astana flight from Astana at Larnaca Airport yesterday, Tuesday.
According to Hermes Airports, the new route will operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday. At the same time, from June 4, the airline will also launch direct flights between Almaty and Larnaca, with routes every Thursday and Sunday.
The flights will be operated with Airbus A321LR aircraft and are scheduled to continue at least until September. The flight duration from Astana to Larnaca is approximately 5 hours and 40 minutes, while from Almaty it is 6 hours and 5 minutes.
It is noted that the first flight from Larnaca to Kazakhstan carried, among others, the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides and members of the Council of Ministers, in the context of the first official visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus to Kazakhstan.
The Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communications of Hermes Airports, Maria Kouroupi, described the start of the flights as "a particularly positive development for the connectivity of Cyprus", noting that the direct connection with two major cities in Kazakhstan constitutes another important step in the effort to strengthen the country's air connectivity and creates new prospects for both tourism and bilateral relations between the two countries.
