New yellow warning issued yesterday by the Department of Meteorology. The warning will come into effect from 11 am. until 4 p.m. today.
The weather forecast
Seasonal low pressure affects the area.
Today, the weather in most parts of the island will be mostly sunny, although there will be local increased low clouds at times. In the mountains, however, during the midday hours and after, clouds that will develop may give isolated rains. Winds will be mainly south-west to north-west, initially weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, but will gradually strengthen and blow moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and on the south-west coasts temporarily to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will initially be a little rough, but gradually by the afternoon it will become a little rough in the east and up to rough on the rest of the coast. The temperature will rise to around 40 degrees in the interior, around 32 on the west and southwest coasts, around 34 on the rest of the coasts and around 31 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, but there will be locally increased low cloud, particularly in the west and north. Later and during the morning hours, locally light mist or fog is possible, especially in areas in the southeast. The field of winds will gradually weaken, to later blow downwinds, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea in the east will be calm to slightly rough and in the south it will gradually become rough to rough, but in the west and north it will remain slightly rough to rough. The temperature will drop to around 21 degrees in the interior, around 23 on the coast and around 18 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Thursday, Friday and also on Saturday, increased local cloudiness will be observed from time to time, which in the mountains and possibly also in the inland area, it is possible to give isolated rain, during the midday hours and after. The temperature will drop, to fluctuate close to the average climatic values.
