The police are investigating the circumstances of the death of a three-month-old baby in Nicosia. To facilitate the investigations, the 29-year-old father of the infant was arrested on July 23.
Specifically, on the afternoon of July 28, 2024, the Police were informed by the staff of the Nicosia General Hospital, that a three-month-old girl, who had been transported by ambulance shortly before, ended up in the Hospital's Emergency Department.
Members of the Police, visited the Hospital and inspected the body of the infant, in which some signs were found, which raised suspicions of serious neglect of the child. Accordingly, an arrest warrant was issued against the infant's 23-year-old father for the offenses of murder, causing death by reckless, reckless or dangerous act and child exposure and dereliction of duty
family.
The 23-year-old was arrested and taken into custody on July 29 to facilitate investigations. Yesterday he was brought before the District Court of Nicosia, which issued an eight-day detention order against him.
On the body of the infant, the prescribed autopsy was carried out yesterday. According to the findings of the medical examiners, signs of severe neglect can be found in his pile.
