In a new fatal road collision that happened yesterday afternoon, 78-year-old Panikos Filippou, from Paliometochos, died.
Specifically, around 2.40 p.m. yesterday, while the 78-year-old was driving his car on Nicosia Avenue in Peristerona, under circumstances that are being investigated, he hit the back of a bus, which at that time was at a stop to pick up a passenger.
The 78-year-old was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 6.50pm.
Neither the bus driver nor the passengers were injured.
During the prescribed autopsy on the body of the 78-year-old, which was carried out today by the medical examiner Angeliki Papeta, it was established that his death was caused by multiple injuries to his body and vital organs.
