Radio Proto hosted Interior Minister Nikos Nouris, who commented on the Al Jazeera documentary.

He initially stated that the Cyprus Investment Program had created such a controversy, with the result that the Government considered that if they allowed the continuation of the program, it might have aggravated the deterioration of the program.

He clarified that he did not receive any message from abroad about the investment program other than a post by the Minister of Justice of the European Commission.

"There were many questions from the European Commission to the Ministry of the Interior, which were answered in my presence in Brussels and in letters. "We did what we had to do to have a credible program that will offer the Cypriot economy."

Mr. Nouris then explained that the Ministry of Interior must examine all the applications that have been submitted. "We decided that an extension should be given until the end of the month because it is not so easy to submit an application for the Cyprus Investment Program. We wanted to give an extension to those whose application is in the final stage."

Commenting on the video, he clarified that if such things happen in the Ministry, then they will have problems.

"I would resign if I had any involvement, if it happened while I was at the Ministry of Interior." He added that in order for the President of the Republic to be able to take over, then some things must be proven which concern state officials of his Government.

In addition, the Minister of Interior added that the Government will return with ways to strengthen the Cypriot economy when the commission of inquiry is completed. "At the Ministry of Interior we have to process the applications that we are examining and we will have to prepare together with the Ministry of Finance possible alternatives after the suspension of the program.

Finally, he referred to the issue created with the Speaker of Parliament, explaining that everyone makes their own decisions.
