The Municipality of Larnaca was awarded the "Green City of Cyprus" Award, within the framework of the Pancyprian Green Cities and Green Communities Awards of Cyprus for 2024.
A Municipality announcement states that "Larnaca was awarded for the project "Creation of the greenest beaches in Cyprus (Voroklini)", in the category "Green Areas - Urban Biodiversity" for the year 2024.
The evaluation was carried out by the Scientific Evaluation Committee, with the participation of all members of the Committee, at the offices of the Commissioner for the Environment.
This award, the announcement adds, "recognizes the efforts of the Municipality of Larnaca to improve its environmental footprint and its contribution to the protection of natural biodiversity. With this award, the Municipality of Larnaca automatically joins the Network of Green Cities & Communities of Cyprus, which was created by the Cyprus Center for Environmental Research and Education (CCEREE)."
The Municipality of Larnaca "will continue to promote sustainable and environmentally responsible practices to improve the quality of life of its citizens and protect our natural environment."
