Kleopas Kouloumas, who experienced and has been experiencing orphanhood for nine years, when his father killed his mother and sister and then ended his life, was hosted on the Protoselidos show.
He was a protagonist in the heinous crime where his father had killed his mother and sister in front of his eyes. The then 14-year-old Kleopas managed to escape from the fire of his enraged father.
Initially, Cleopas stated that the government has been saying from the beginning that it will create a welfare state that will take care of it and based on my own personal experience, I have sent a letter and asked to speak to the President personally about how the orphans feel in Cyprus and the difficulties they face.
Cleopas had grown up with his grandmother and grandfather, until he was 18 years old when he decided to study, a student with dreams. He studies business administration at the University of Nicosia.
As for the orphan's allowance, he said that the student receives it every 4 months or six months for the university. It is truncated on each record. It is also cut off in the months when the universities are closed and the orphan is asked to work or take them retroactively. However, as he mentioned, if an orphan child works afterwards, he is not entitled to the allowance and loses it.
"I have appealed to the Government and the answer was that they cannot do anything and that I have to take an exam in the Government and enter with certain criteria on a waiting list like the rest of the world."
In closing, he mentioned that he made a publication about the 19-year-old at the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. "I have nothing personal with the girl, nor do I know her, I just understood that she was treated differently."
June 2014: Executed with G3 his family
41-year-old Andreas Pitis, an electrician by profession, executed his estranged wife Margarita Kouloumas, a 3-year-old kindergarten teacher, with a G37 military rifle, as well as their 9-year-old daughter, Antonia, while seriously injuring his son Kleopas, aged then 14 years old.
The incredible tragedy unfolded on Ariadnis Street, crossing Tseriou Avenue, in Strovolos. After his heinous acts, Pitis, turned the gun (provided to him by EF as a spare) on himself and shot, taking his own life.
