OELMEK requests the suspension of the four-month exams for the first and second grade of Lyceums and Technical Schools.
In an announcement, OELMEK reminds that on December 14 it had addressed the Minister of Education again with the same request, which it reiterates, noting the adverse conditions that have been recorded since the beginning of this school year.
OELMEK reports that thousands of students have been in self-limitation for some time, the teaching of the Lyceums and Technical Schools of Limassol and Paphos has been different from the other provinces for two weeks and the operation of all Lyceums and Technical Schools in Cyprus is done exclusively through distance learning the last two weeks before the holidays. He also notes that the cases COVID-19 are being launched in recent days, forcing the government to take additional measures, and epidemiologists are reporting "a possible third wave in January".
The organization considers that with the problems that will arise during the planned period of the exams, "the only logical and imperative decision at the moment is the suspension of the next four-month AD exams".
According to OELMEK, the decision, if taken even now, “will primarily reduce the pressure experienced by students throughout this period, to which is added that of the exams of the first four months, under unprecedented conditions uncertainty we live in ”.
"We further point out that the two weeks provided for the conduct of the exams of the ADMeatremen could be used to fill any gaps that exist due to the pandemic of the last nine months", the announcement concludes.
