The State Health Services Organization (SHO) condemns in the strongest possible terms yesterday's verbal attack by a patient and his companions towards the Triage Nurse at the Emergency Department of Larnaca General Hospital, as well as the physical violence they inflicted on the police officer on duty who intervened immediately.
"The repeated incident of violence causes sadness and anger, as well as concern," it said in a statement, expressing its full support for all staff, "who professionally deal with difficult incidents and save lives, stating that such behaviors cannot be accepted."
He also mentions that work is underway at the TAEP of Larnaca General Hospital to expand the Department and for this reason the screening is taking place in a demountable building.
With the completion of the project, Larnaca will have a modern TAEP that will fully serve the needs of patients, he concludes.
