The Police announces that as of today, March 6, 2026 and without retroactive effect, following a decision taken yesterday by the Council of Ministers and published today in the Official Gazette of the Republic, the provisions of the legislation, through which changes are made to the extrajudicial regulation of the violation of the red light at traffic light-controlled intersections (Law 91(I)/2024), come into force.
In summary, the classification in effect as of today for violations recorded by the Photographic Traffic System is set out below:
Violation of the mandatory stop line at photo-controlled intersections: extrajudicial fine of 25 euros.
Failure to comply with the red traffic light –
at a light-controlled intersection, where there is a pedestrian crossing (vehicle entering a pedestrian crossing): extrajudicial fine of 85 euros and 3 penalty points.
with the vehicle entering a point beyond the pedestrian crossing: extrajudicial fine of 300 euros and 3 penalty points.
with the vehicle entering a point, beyond the white mandatory stop line, where there is no pedestrian crossing (vehicle entering the intersection/junction): extrajudicial fine of 300 euros and 3 penalty points.
Furthermore, the public is informed that in relation to the Photo-Tag system and information regarding questions/disputes regarding
any commission of an offense
problem with paying out-of-court settlement
information about driver details at the given time of the traffic violation
or other issues
