The Ministry of Defense announces that the preliminary examinations held by the Ministry for admission to the Higher Military Educational Institutions and the Higher Military NCO Schools of Greece will be conducted as follows:

1. HEALTH EXAMINATION:

1.1 It will be conducted by a Health Committee at the 106 SNE (Military Campaign Hospital), located at Camp B. KAPOTA, (BMH), in Aglantzia, from March 27, 2023 – April 7, 2023. Attendance will be from 08:00 a.m. m. until 10:00 a.m. (after 10:00 AM none will be accepted) according to their first last name as shown below.
1.1.1 On 27.3.2023 candidates whose last name begins with the letter A up to and including the letters GEO (such as Georgiou).

1.1.2 On 28.3.2023, candidates whose last name begins with the letters Ι (like Yagou) up to and including the letter Θ.

1.1.3 On 29.3.2023 the candidates whose last name begins with the letter I up to and including the letters ΚΛΗ (such as Cretan).

1.1.4 On 30.3.2023 the candidates whose last name begins with the letters ΚΟ (such as Krusso) up to and including the letters ΠΑΠ (such as Marcos).

1.1.5 On 31.3.2023, candidates whose last name begins with the letters MAT (such as Matthaiou) up to and including the letter N.

1.1.6 On 03.4.2023 the candidates whose last name begins with the letter X up to and including the letters ΕΠ (such as Perikleus).

1.1.7 On 04.4.2023 the candidates whose last name begins with the letters PES (such as Pesiotou) up to and including the letters STR (such as Strati).

1.1.8 On 05.4.2023 the candidates whose last name begins with the letters STY (such as Stylianou) up to and including the letters XAS (such as Hasapi).

1.1.9 On 06.4.2023, candidates whose last name begins with the letters HAT (such as Hatzinikolaou) up to and including the letter Ω.

1.1.10 On 07.4.2023 the candidates studying at the Military Schools.

1.2 During their presentation to the Health Committee, the candidates should present the following health examinations which must have been carried out recently (not more than 1,5 months ago) either in a State Hospital, or in a private clinic or laboratory (the Health Certificate is not accepted), together with the Health Examination Form duly completed (APPENDIX A):

(1) General analyses, urea, sugar, creatinine, transaminases, hemoglobin and general urine with a doctor's opinion.
(2) FACE chest x-ray with physician's opinion.
(3) Electrocardiogram, with a doctor's opinion stating that the candidate can participate in sports tests.
(4) Ophthalmological examination recording the visual acuity and the degree of refractive error of each eye, the presence or absence of color blindness and the presence of a disease or condition with a doctor's opinion.
(5) Otorhinolaryngological examination and audiogram with a doctor's opinion.
(6) Gynecological examination (only for female candidates) with a doctor's opinion (that the candidate does not present any problem of a gynecological nature).
(7) Responsible Signed Declaration of No Use of Illegal Addictive Substances (APPENDIX B)

ATTENTION: – THE REQUESTED MEDICAL AND/OR LABORATORY EXAMINATIONS AS WELL AS THE REQUIRED OPINIONS/STATEMENTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE POLICY AS THEY ARE NOT HEALTHCARE SERVICES.

- IF ANY CANDIDATE DOES NOT PROVIDE THE COMPLETED HEALTH EXAMINATION FORM AND HIS/HER IDENTITY, HE/SHE WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE HEALTH EXAMINATION. THE EXAMS MUST BE RECENT (NOT MORE THAN 1,5 MONTHS AGO).

– Please note that no personal letters will be sent.

1.3 The Body Mass Index (BMI) of candidates for admission to ASEI and ASSY, i.e. the quotient of the candidate's body weight in kilograms divided by the square of his/her height in meters, while for men it must be from 19 to 27 kgr/m2, and for women from 18 to 25 kgr/m2. For example: A candidate with a height of 1,75m and a weight of 74kg has a BMI of 74/(1,75x1,75)=24,16 (Attached is a table with the height-weight limits) (APPENDIX C).

1.4 Applicants must be healthy, physically fit and free of tattoos on visible parts of their body that are not covered by the summer exit uniform (for women, the summer uniform includes a knee-length skirt).

1.5 The opinions concerning the assessment of the health suitability of Production Schools candidates are non-reviewable, therefore it is not possible to review candidates whose suitability has been decided by the committee and a record has been drawn up.

 

2. SPORTS TRIAL

2.1 The Athletic Test will be held at the Kykkos B' Athletic High School, in Nicosia for all candidates who have been deemed fit by the Health Committee during the health examination.

2.1.1 On Tuesday 11.04.2023 at 7:30 a.m., the candidates whose last name begins with the letters A to L should present themselves.

2.1.2 On Wednesday 12.04.2023 at 7:30 a.m., the candidates whose last name begins with the letters M up to and including Ω should present themselves.

2.2 During the Sports Test, the candidates should appear in sports clothing and sports shoes.

2.3 The following table shows the events and the minimum performance limits by event and school, which the candidate (regardless of gender) must achieve in order to be considered suitable:

Candidates are entitled to one (1) attempt for roads and three (3) attempts for jumps and throws. Especially for the shot put event, in a total of three (3) attempts per hand, they must achieve a total performance (with right and left hand) of at least 9 m. for the Schools in column 3 of the table above or 8 m. and 80 million for the Schools in column 4 of the table above.

(a) It is recommended that candidates prepare adequately in advance to achieve the performance limits of the competitions.

(b) The order of the competitions is determined under the responsibility of the President of the Sports Trial, depending on the climatic and other conditions and the number of candidates.

(c) It is forbidden to enter the field of play for persons other than the candidates themselves.

(d) A candidate who unjustifiably does not appear on the specified date and time or does not achieve the specified minimum performance in any competition or withdraws at any stage of the test due to his/her fault, will be deemed to have failed. In the event that a candidate has applied both to Schools for which he/she is also required to compete in swimming (SND, SI/IPT, SMYN) and to some other School and fails only in the swimming event, then he/she is considered as pass/fail only for the Schools for which success in the swimming event is required.

(e) A candidate may take part in a supplementary test if before the start of the 1000 and 100 meter road sports and not during them, he cites health reasons or suffers an injury and after a medical opinion of the Medical member of the Sports Test Committee who to confirm that he can take part in a supplementary test.

(f) It is further provided that, a candidate may take part in a supplementary test if before the start or during the long jump, high jump and shot put competitions and while there are still attempts left, health reasons are cited , or suffers an injury, after a medical opinion from a Medical member of the Sports Trial Committee confirming that he can take part in a supplementary trial, for the completion of the remaining efforts and sports.

3. SWIMMING

3.1 The swimming will be held at the Aglantzia Swimming Pool for the candidates of the Military Sea Cadet Schools (SND), the Icarus School (SI) Flying Department and the Naval Non-Commissioned Officers School (SMYN), who will have been deemed suitable by the Health Committee.

3.1.1 On Tuesday 11.04.2023 at 7:30 a.m., the candidates whose last name begins with the letters M up to and including Ω should present themselves.

3.1.2 On Wednesday 12.04.2023 at 7:30 a.m., the candidates whose last name begins with the letters A to L should present themselves.

4. PSYCHOTECHNICAL TEST (WRITTEN TEST OF DERIVATIVE ABILITY AND TEST OF CRITICAL ABILITY)

4.1 The Psychotechnical Test will be held for all candidates who have succeeded in the Athletic Test, on Thursday 20.04.2023, at 9:00 a.m., at the National Martyr Kyprian Strovolos High School (tel. 22814700), The exam takes about 2 hours. Check-in 8:45 am Information on the psychotechnical test is listed in Appendix (D).

4.2 Candidates should bring blue pens with them.

5. Candidates to claim a place for admission to the Higher Military Educational Institutions and the Higher Military NCO Schools of Greece for the academic year 2023-2024, must come to the examination sites on the days and times that have been determined. They must necessarily bring their Identity Card with them to be admitted. Their absence from the preliminary exams automatically cancels their candidacy for admission to the above Institutions/Schools.

6. The results of the preliminary examinations will be posted on the website of the Ministry of Defense (www.mod.gov.cy) until 12.05.2023.
