Determined not to proceed in any case with the preparation of a bill that will amend the basic law of operation of the General Health System, the Government, which, however, intends to resolve without further delay the problem that arose after the opinion of the Attorney General. GESS doctors in the hospitals of the System is illegal.

Today at the Presidential Palace and under the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis, a meeting is held with the participation of the Minister of Health, the Attorney General and the Health Insurance Organization and as reported by "F", during the meeting, The Attorney General will present his new position which emerged after the submission to the Legal Service of additional documents by the OAU, at the request of the Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipandelas.

In all likelihood, as we are informed, the President of the Republic convened an extraordinary meeting to discuss the issue in detail, while information suggests that Nikos Anastasiadis intends to lead the discussion towards the achievement of a consensual solution, which may provide for the solution of the problem through an independent Regulation which will cover the doctors who currently use the hospital facilities of GESS while they themselves are not included in the System.

Unmovable from its original position is the OAY, which, as we are informed, insists on the legality of its decisions, but also on the legality of the contracts it has signed with the GESSY hospitals and they are in force, while it has set as a red line the amendment of the law that governs the System. As for the Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipandelas, also, as reported by "F", he does not accept any change in the legislation and this position is supported by the President of the Republic.

The content of the new opinion of the Attorney General was not communicated to the OAU until late yesterday afternoon, although the Organization estimates that the possibility that the position of the Legal Service in this matter has not changed, is very high. In any case, the Government aims to resolve this issue as soon as possible, which has been pending for several months, and thus free the OAU, which had previously reached an oral agreement with private hospitals which decided to join the GESS, but due to the non-settlement of this issue it is not possible to sign the relevant contracts.
