The fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon, between the communities of Doros and Limnati, was put under complete control during the night, the press representative of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, told KYPE.
As Mr. Kettis said, during the night, ground forces encountered small flare-ups and proceeded to contain the fire, while in the morning aerial vehicles were activated for final water drops and an assessment of the situation was made.
The fire, which burned a square kilometer of wild vegetation, dry grass and trees, appears to have started on the edge of a rural road near rubbish and all possibilities are being investigated, he added.
To put it out, the Ikaros II project was implemented, with the participation of seven aerial vehicles, while strong ground forces of the Fire Service were mobilized, from all the provinces and the EMAK, the Forestry Department, the Game Service, the provincial administration, the Civil Defense and organized voluntary groups.
