Appreciations in the market have begun to be felt, negatively affecting the budget of households and not only.
Large increases are shown in the retail prices of basic goods and services in August 2023, compared to August last year.
The figures of the Statistical Service are indicative of how much the prices of basic products have increased, affecting at the same time the exits as the increase in meat and also in alcoholic beverages is dramatic.
According to data from the Statistical Service, in the meat category, lamb and goat meat increased by 29%, beef and veal by 16,5%, pork by 9,9% and chicken (poultry) by 0,3%.
In addition, the retail price of sugar increased by 28,3% and of coffee by 14%. In fresh fish there is an increase of 6,8% and in frozen 7,9%.
In alcoholic beverages, the increase reached 7%. Specifically in wine 7,6% and in beer 7,5%.
Cost and care
Prices continue to pull up in personal care as well as prices gallop in both salons and personal care treatments.
Women's salon prices rose 4,9% in August compared to August 2022. Men's and children's salon prices rose 0,8%. Prices of personal hygiene and wellness items increased by 5,4%. At the same time, an increase is observed in personal care treatments by 4,7%.
