The serious injury of a 27-year-old female tourist from Germany is the result of a traffic accident that occurred yesterday in Paphos, specifically in Neo Chorio.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Nikolaou, the 27-year-old was driving a four-wheeled rental motorcycle at 17:00 on Akamandos Street in Neo Chorio Paphos with a 28-year-old female passenger when, under circumstances that are being investigated, she lost control of the machine, entered the opposite stream of traffic and subsequently overturned in an adjacent ditch beside the road.
As a result of the collision, the two women were injured and were initially transported by ambulance to the Chrysochous Town Hospital and then to the Paphos General Hospital. From the medical examinations that followed, according to Mr. Nikolaou, it was found that the driver of the four-wheeler had injuries in various parts of her body, with the most serious one in the pneumothorax, as a result of which it was deemed necessary for her to be hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit.
Her health condition, according to the treating doctors, is serious but out of danger and stable, while the 28-year-old passenger was not seriously injured and was discharged.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
