The Community of the University of Cyprus expresses its sincere condolences for the loss of Professor Miltiadis Hacholiadis. As stated in her statements to Sigmalive by the Spokesperson of the University of Cyprus, Doxa Komodromou, the deceased inextricably linked his name with the autonomy of the Organization in 1995.

From then until today he has helped the academic and research community in many fields, offering his knowledge and experience for the improvement and upgrading of Education and the improvement of conditions in the educational climate and beyond.

Miltiadis Hacholiadis was born in 1937 in the village of Omodos. He did basic studies at the Athens School of Economics and Commercial Sciences (Bachelor of Economics) and postgraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Ph. D. Economics). He taught at New York University (as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor of Economics), UCLA (as Visiting Associate Professor), Georgia State University in the United States (as Associate Professor, Research Professor, Department Chair and Professor of Economics).

His research interests: International Financial Theory and Adjustment Mechanism, International Trade and International Economic Policy, Microeconomic Theory and Macroeconomic Theory. He has also published numerous articles and reviews of book reviews on financial issues.

Flags at the University of Cyprus are flying at half-mast in mourning. During the Graduation Ceremony of the School of Economic Sciences and Management that will take place tonight in front of the President of the House of Representatives, Ms Annitas Dimitriou, a one-minute silence will be observed in his memory.
