In a statement, the Police states that they are continuing the intensive controls on a nationwide basis, for the observance of the measures and the implementation of the Decrees of the Law on Infection.

Specifically, in the last 24 hours (6 am yesterday Saturday 29/01/22 - 6 am today Sunday 30/01/22) were held nationwide 2,369 checks, of which 1,357 were related to safepass checks, while they were done in total 19 complaints from citizens and 17 complaints of premises for violation of the measures.

As far as citizens are concerned, the majority of complaints concerned the non-use of a protective mask.

As for the premises, most of the complaints concerned premises managers and employees, who did not have a safe pass in force, a large number of customers inside the premises, as well as dancing guests, as follows:

Province of Larnaca

Extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of money, amount 8,000 euro, was issued to the head of the music and dance center in the province of Larnaca, after allowing the entry of a large number of customers inside the premises, while there were more people at the tables than allowed.

Nicosia District

Out-of-court notice of payment of sums of money 3,000 and 1,000 Euros respectively, were issued to the managers of the betting agency and kiosk in the province of Nicosia, after the managers were found to work in them without holding a valid safepass certificate. The bettor was also found not to have a safe pass.

At the same time, extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of money, amount 1,500 euro, was issued to the restaurant manager because he allowed spectators to dance.

In addition, extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of money, amount 1,000 euro, was issued to the person in charge of food preparation, after she and two employees were found working in it without holding a valid safepass certificate.

In addition, extrajudicial notices of payment of a sum of money, amount 750 Euros, were issued to hairdressers (allowed an employee to work without safepass) and pizzerias (the manager was found to be working without a valid safepass certificate).

The managers of three other establishments in the province of Nicosia were found to be working without safepass, as a result of which an out-of-court notice of payment of a sum of money was issued to them. 500 euro.

Also, the super-market manager in the province of Nicosia, was issued an extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of money 500 euros, as he did not wear a protective mask.

District of Limassol

In the province of Limassol, an extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of money was issued 3,000 euros to the brewery manager, after allowing the entry of a large number of customers, while in the premises there were not the necessary signs and patrons were found dancing.

In addition, extrajudicial notices of payment of a sum of money 500 Euros were issued to the managers of two other premises (supermarket and barber shop), after allowing the entry of a customer without holding a safepass certificate, as well as the entry of a large number of customers.

An extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of money was also issued to the restaurant manager. 750 euros, after allowing the entry of overcrowded customers, while there were no appropriate signs on the premises and guests were found dancing.

Paphos Province

A file for a Court was formed for a nightclub, as it did not have the necessary markings and did not have the necessary permits from the competent Authority.

Finally, an inspection carried out at an establishment, also in the province of Paphos, found that persons who worked there did not wear protective masks, customers were dancing, while there were no appropriate markings on the establishment

The Police reminds that the supervision of the measures is not only the responsibility of the Police and the other competent public services, but it is the responsibility of everyone.
