Xenion Education in Paralimni once again teaches life lessons through an event of support for the struggling people of Ukraine.
At an event held yesterday, March 9 in the event hall of Xenion Education, students and teachers had the opportunity to learn through a very moving presentation everything that is happening in Ukraine.
Lebanese history teacher Jean Michel Zacra shared his experiences with students. Specifically, he stated that “Seeing the current situation, I was shocked. Turning on the TV and watching all this pain can be difficult. But growing up in a country like Lebanon, I lived through the war on all levels. I saw the war before my eyes and I was only 14 years old. I still remember the smell of gunpowder and the sounds of sirens, a sound that I wish none of you ever heard.
I remember feeling the effects of the explosions. My ears were ringing and fear had overwhelmed me.
Even today, when I hear fireworks, I honestly instinctively turn around to see what is happening and to see what I have to run away from. "Even if I know in my heart that it's just a firework."
The history teacher closed by saying something that, as he said, someone quite wise told him. Specifically he closed by saying that "Only the dead saw the end of a war".
Then, students captured in their own music and dance way the state of the war and their desire for freedom.
The Greek teacher Sophia Amulet obviously excited among other things she said: “We will close the presentation today with an apology. As adults our hearts break and we feel ashamed of the world we deliver to you. "We really wish we had a magic wand, or time machine, and undo the mistakes of the past and get everything right, but we know this is impossible."
The English teacher with tears in her eyes Kendra Loizou He said: "Today, we want to say a big apology to everyone for the awful decisions that adults make. Your generation was left to clean up the mess we created. Please when the time comes to make decisions, do what you can to support the people who are suffering. Please do what is good, true and right because someone has to do it, and that has to come from your own generation.
The co-owner of the school, Xenia Amulet Among other things, he informed us that Xenion Education cooperates with specific schools in Ukraine as well as with many schools around the world. As part of the cooperation between the schools, Xenion Education teachers often went to schools in Ukraine. In both Ukrainian schools, which have direct cooperation with Xenion Education, they organized online meetings through zoom meetings in order for children from the mountains, basements and shelters to be able to connect with them for a lesson.
Η Xenia Amulet He pointed out that “We have communicated and we wish those students who can leave Ukraine to come here, to be hosted in the Boarding House and to join our classes, at least so that they can finish the year. We were by Ukraine's side, offering financial and psychological support to the people being tested. "
Through conversation we realized that the school is attended by many students from Ukraine and Russia, however, the school's approach to the subject helped the smooth relationship between the students.
It is worth noting that a group of teachers created a board with a postcard where students can write messages that they would like to send to the citizens of Ukraine.
