The Tax Department is expected to grant an extension to the submission of tax returns for 2022. As mentioned, the delay observed in the passing of a bill by the Parliament does not allow the competent Department to issue the declarations for 2022 and thus it is oriented to give an extension.
In more detail, speaking to Trito, the First Officer in the Tax Department Irini Ioannou noted that a bill is pending in the Parliament which will affect the tax declarations mainly of those who work abroad. Therefore, he noted, with the passing of the specific bill, the necessary corrections will be made to the tax declarations and then these will be posted on taxisnet.
According to Mrs. Ioannou, the Department of Taxation is oriented to give a sufficient extension to the submission of tax returns and thus from July 31, which was originally the deadline for submitting the returns, an extension will be given until October 2. At the same time, he noted that the necessary updates and reminders will be made by the relevant Department to the taxpayers.
Mrs. Ioannou noted that with regard to companies, the tax declarations have been cleared up to 2020, while in relation to individual declarations, the declarations have been cleared up to 2018. For the following years, there are declarations that need further control due to the complexity that has been created with the application of GeSY.
