The President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, received today, at the Presidential Palace, the Commissioner for Legislation, Mrs. Louiza Christodoulidou Zannettou, who presented him with her annual report.
Delivering the report, the Commissioner said that it records what has been done so far from 2019 onwards, with an emphasis on the last year.
Receiving the report, the President of the Republic said that he would study it and added that "in the context of today's meeting there are also some other issues related to the Commissioner's responsibilities that I would like us to proceed with.
The first concerns your help for immediate cooperation with the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, for the preparation of a legislative framework that concerns the associates of the President of the Republic, the Ministers and Deputy Ministers and the Government Representative, something that I want us to complete immediately.
The second concerns the need to modernize the legislation. There are many laws, which are from the colonial period, which need to be modernized, so I expect a relevant suggestion from you.
And the third concerns the Code of Ethics of the members of the Council of Ministers, taking into account the recommendations of GRECO. Immediately, in the next period, to come to the Council of Ministers to be adopted and followed by all.
I look forward to our close cooperation and I am sure that our goals are common. I consider your role particularly important, precisely so that we can send meaningful messages to society through actions, which through our cooperation will arise".
