At today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipandella presented the suggestions of the members of the Advisory Scientific Committee, in relation to the remaining measures against the disease COVID-19. In recent weeks, there has been a steady trend in all epidemiological indicators and a further decrease in the number of hospitalized patients, a fact that raises the need to review and adjust protective measures to prevent the disease. COVID-19, aiming at strengthening the individual responsibility and raising the awareness of the citizens for the observance of the personal protection measures.

Taking into account the above, the Council of Ministers decided:

(a) from 1 June 2022, the suspension of the obligation to use a protective mask indoors and indoors, excluding high-risk areas such as hospitals, nursing homes, closed structures of vulnerable groups, health care facilities (outpatient clinics, medical centers, etc. ) and Public Transport.

  • The use of a mask is recommended in places of painting, in people who fall into the vulnerable groups of the population and in people who associate with people at high risk.

b) from June 1, 2022, as visits to patients in public and private hospitals with a maximum number of 2 people per day are allowed, with the presentation of a rapid antigen test (Rapid test) or PCR valid for 48 hours (1 person per visit).

  • It is understood that in extremely urgent cases the number of people and visits may be increased, provided that approval is obtained from the hospital management.
