Over 2.799 traffic violations were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out by members of the Police throughout Cyprus from January 20 to 26, 2025.
In a statement, the Police Communications Branch states that in the context of traffic checks carried out by members of the Police throughout Cyprus, they proceeded with 824 complaints regarding exceeding the speed limit, 386 complaints for failure to use a seat belt by drivers and passengers, 3 complaints for failure to use a protective helmet and 355 complaints for using a mobile phone while driving.
It also notes that 58 reports were made for driving under the influence of alcohol, 23 reports for illegal parking, 26 for parking in disabled spaces and 1.124 reports for committing other traffic offenses.
Additionally, the Police Communications Department reports that within the framework of traffic controls, 15 complaints arose for drug tests, 59 car seizures and 11 two-wheeled vehicle seizures.
As he assures, "traffic police checks continue daily, aiming to prevent fatal and serious traffic collisions, but also to instill proper road awareness among all road users."
