More than 2,800 traffic violations were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out by members of the Police, all over Cyprus, from 10/02/2025 to 16/02/2025.
Police officers, in the context of traffic controls carried out throughout Cyprus, filed 987 complaints regarding exceeding the speed limit, 163 complaints for failure to use seat belts by drivers and passengers, 12 complaints for failure to use a protective helmet and 185 complaints for using a mobile phone while driving. In addition, 75 complaints were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol, 61 complaints for illegal parking, 20 for parking in disabled spaces and 1.312 complaints for committing other traffic offences.
Additionally, within the framework of traffic controls, 26 complaints arose regarding drug tests, 40 car seizures and 14 two-wheeled vehicle seizures.
Traffic police checks continue daily, aiming to prevent fatal and serious traffic collisions, as well as to instill proper road awareness among all road users.
