The demand of the Cypriots for the program of strengthening domestic tourism is enormous, to the extent that "several hotels have been filled out of nowhere due to this plan", said the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios.

Speaking on Radio Proto's First Program, Mr. Perdios referred to the "great success" of the plan for domestic tourism, while emphasizing that due to the increased demand, the State Department does not rule out the possibility of adding hotels in order to serve more citizens.

"It simply came to our notice then. In addition to the help we wanted to give to the people to take a vacation at very good prices, or to the local community to take advantage of the wave of traffic that will exist, we also wanted to give the "kiss of life" with this program on businesses "said Mr. Perdios.

The program, as the Undersecretary noted, "has achieved all its goals."

Regarding how many citizens will ultimately benefit from the domestic tourism support plan, Mr. Perdios noted that this will become clear in the coming days. "The goal was to help more than 50.000 citizens and it looks like we will get there," he said.

He also stressed that it should be borne in mind that the current phase of the project concerns a period of only 6 weeks and it is important that in this short time will benefit tens of thousands of our fellow citizens with cheap and good holidays.

The plan, reminded Mr. Perdios, will continue until the end of November. In fact, hotel booking prices under the plan, from September onwards will be even cheaper than in August.
