A second murder, likely also a settlement of scores, was committed in less than 48 hours.
After the execution of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos on the beach of Limassol, last night Alexis Mavromichalis, 45, was also killed by a sniper in the Acropolis area of Nicosia.
According to information, Mavromichalis, also known as Alexoui, received only one bullet, while he was on the balcony of his apartment, on the second floor, shortly after nine in the evening.
His vital organs were affected and despite the efforts of the doctors, shortly after midnight, the victim breathed his last at the Nicosia General Hospital.
Three more assassination attempts were made against Alexis Mavromichalis, in 2004, 2008 and 2015.
Shortly after the murderous attack, a vehicle which according to information had been declared stolen, was found burning despite the exit of Kotsiatis, near the Nicosia - Limassol highway.
The authorities do not rule out the possibility that the car is connected to the incident, with the perpetrators setting fire to cover their tracks.
A similar action was taken by the perpetrators of the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos on Monday morning, a fact which does not exclude the possibility that the two murders are connected.
