A 130-year-old man was driving a car at a speed of 50 km/h on a road with a 35 MPH limit, who was stopped by members of the Police last night in Limassol. A second driver, aged 20, who was driving a car at a speed of 99 km/h on a road with a speed limit of 50 km/h, was stopped by members of the Police in Larnaca.

The 35-year-old was driving his car on Franklin Roosevelt Avenue, in Limassol, just before 10.00:XNUMX on Tuesday night. He was stopped by members of the Limassol Traffic Police who were carrying out traffic checks in the area and after being arrested for the self-inflicted offense of driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the permitted limit, he was taken into custody for the purpose of police examinations.

A little later, at 10.15 in the evening, in Larnaca, specifically on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue, the 20-year-old driver was stopped by members of the Larnaca Traffic Police. He was also arrested for driving a vehicle at an excessive speed and was taken to the offices of the Larnaca Traffic Police, where at the end of the police examinations, after being accused in writing, he was released, to be summoned before a Court to hear the case.

Traffic checks are carried out daily by the Police with the aim of preventing and reducing serious and fatal traffic collisions and increasing road safety.
