An injured 35-year-old man was rescued by the Fire Department on Sunday when the car transport vehicle (platform) he was driving veered off course and fell into an 8-meter-deep cliff near the Agios Mammas bridge in the Limassol district.
In a post on Monday, Fire Department spokesman Andreas Kettis said that the 35-year-old was extricated using a rescue kit and handed over to the ambulance crew for transport to the Limassol General Hospital. The platform was carrying another private vehicle at the time of its overturn.
As Mr. Kettis reports, the Fire Department responded to a total of 24 incidents, 51 fires and 37 special services in the last 14 hours.
On Sunday afternoon, three fully-staffed fire trucks responded to a fire in a house in a residential area in Paliometocho.
The house suffered extensive damage from the fire. An adjacent wooden warehouse and its contents were also extensively damaged by the fire.
It also reports that on Sunday evening, fire engines from Limassol stations responded to a fire at a pallet manufacturing factory in the Karnagio area of Limassol.
Piles of pallets in an open area were completely burned, while the fire affected the wooden beams of the roof of the craft. An adjacent factory and a boat were also protected, according to Mr. Kettis.
For all cases, the causes are being investigated in collaboration with the Police, he concludes.
