A 75-year-old man was sentenced today to three and a half years in prison by the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca, after a case of possession of drugs with the aim of supplying it to another person. In the possession of the 75-year-old, a quantity of cannabis over two kilos had been identified by members of the Drug Control Service - YKAN, last August.
The quantity of cannabis was found in the luggage of the 75-year-old, who had arrived at Larnaca airport and was checked by the members of YKAN in collaboration with officials of the Customs Department. The 75-year-old arrived at the airport on a flight from a European country shortly before 1.00 am at midnight on August 27th.
During the search of the 75-year-old's luggage, two packages containing a total of two kilos and 285 grams of cannabis were found. At the same time, the members of YKAN proceeded to confiscate the drugs and arrest the 75-year-old for spontaneous offenses.
