CovScan Cyprus is an application for smart devices (mobile phones, Tablets). The purpose of the application is the electronic validation of the European Digital Certificate COVID, in accordance with the respective national directives.

How can I download the application?

CovScan Cyprus is immediately available for Android devices and you can download the app via Google Play at https://play.google.com/. The application works with versions newer than Android 8.1. At a later stage the application will be available for iOS devices (versions newer than iOS 12.1).

What is the procedure for using the CovScan Cyprus application on Android smart devices?

To use the application, follow these steps:

1. Before activating the CovScan Cyprus application from your smart device, make sure that the device is connected to the internet.

2. Start the application.

3. In the first use the application will display the "Downloading Rules" screen message. The process takes a few seconds.

4. In the first use but also on a daily basis, before you start scanning the certificates, make sure that the Trusted Public Keys are up to date. Select the icon on the top right ("?" Icon) where the application settings (Settings) are displayed. Click and enable the update of the application control information (option Trusted Public Keys / Business Rules, "Reload" button). The process takes a few seconds.

5. Start scanning.

Note: The updated National Control Rules and the updated Trusted Public Keys are a prerequisite for the smooth operation of the CovScan Cyprus application and the provision of reliable control indications / results.

What is the use of the CovScan Cyprus application?

The control through the CovScan Cyprus application is done by scanning the QR code indicated on the certificate (in printed or electronic form) and presents the following results:

- Green: The certificate is a "Valid Vaccination Certificate" or a "Valid Recovery Certificate" that meets the requirements of the Decree

- Blue: The certificate is "Valid" and means that the holder has undergone a PCR test with a negative result within the time limits applicable in the Decree.

- Yellow / Orange: The certificate is "Valid" and means that the holder has undergone a rapid antigen test with a negative result within the time frame applicable in the Decree ..

- Purple: The vaccination certificate is "Valid" only with the additional negative test result of PCR or Rapid Test within the timeframes in force in the Decree, which must also be presented in the form of EUDCC and will be subject to control through the application CovScan Cyprus .

- Red: The certificate is "Invalid".

 

In which cases is purple indicated?

The "purple" color result corresponds to the following cases, for which, according to the decrees, additional production of a negative PCR laboratory test result is required, with the sampling having taken place within the time frames applicable in the Decree:

1. Presentation of a single dose vaccination certificate for a two-dose vaccine and a vaccination date not exceeding 35 days,

Presentation of a single dose vaccination certificate for a single dose vaccine if 2 days have not elapsed since vaccination

Presentation of a single dose vaccine certificate for a single dose vaccine or two doses for a two dose dose vaccine if more than seven (3) months have elapsed since the last dose.

 

Which categories of citizens are exempt from mandatory scrutiny through the CovScan Cyprus application?

The following are excluded from the mandatory control through the CovScan Cyprus application:

1. People aged 65 and over,

4. People aged 14 and under,

5. Turkish Cypriot citizens who have been vaccinated in areas of the Republic of Cyprus where the Government does not exercise effective control;

6. Tourists (ie persons permanently resident in the Republic and entering the Republic legally) who have been vaccinated in countries other than those of the European Union, the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) or Switzerland, and

7. Permanent / legal residents of Cyprus who have been vaccinated in countries other than those of the European Union, the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) or Switzerland.

8. Individuals who are proven and after a decision of the Medical Council are not recommended to be vaccinated, and who should show the special card issued by the Ministry of Health and at the same time laboratory examination Rapid or PCR test on a weekly basis with a negative result.

 

What are the local rules?

The CovScan Cyprus application returns a VALID result in the following cases (rules according to a YY decree dated 14-12-2021):

• upon completion of all three doses of vaccine, in the case of a two-dose vaccine, or two doses of a vaccine in the case of a single-dose vaccine (booster dose)

• for a certificate of recovery from his illness COVID-19 in the last 6 months

• for a negative molecular laboratory test for his disease COVID-19 which took place in the last 72 hours

• for a negative rapid test for antigen for his disease COVID-19 done in the last 48 hours for over 18 years, in the last 72 hours for ages 12-17 and one week for ages 6-11.

8. What are the possible causes for incorrect indications from the CovScan Cyprus application?

A prerequisite for the smooth operation of the CovScan Cyprus application and the provision of reliable control indications / results are the updated National Control Rules and the updated Trusted Public Keys.

The last date and time of the update is indicated at the end of the Settings - Settings of the application, under Reload - Reload.

If NO date is listed (or if the date is not current) check the application's internet connection and try again.
