The bones that were found yesterday by visitors in the sea area of Akamas are human, according to the Spokesperson of the Paphos Police Department and Head of the TAE Michalis Ioannou and after examination by an anthropologist of the Department of Antiquities.
In his statements to the journalists, Mr. Ioannou stated that last night a citizen informed the Police that in the coastal area of Lara in Akamas, six pieces of bones were found.
The bones were taken by the Police and this morning were examined by an anthropologist of the Department of Antiquities, he said, adding that the examinations revealed that they were human bones. At the same time, he continued, researches were carried out in the area where the bones were found, but also in the wider area for any other bones, but to no avail.
He added that the bones found will be sent for further scientific examinations in an effort through these examinations to establish, as he said, the identity of the person to whom they belong.
Finally, Mr. Ioannou stated that the Paphos TAE is investigating the case.
