Employment in the Government in December 2021 increased by 359 people (0,7%) compared to the corresponding month of 2020 and reached 53.054 people. The permanent staff is reduced by 655 people (-2,4%), from 26.881 to 26.226 people. There is an increase of 1.088 in the temporary staff people (6,2%) reaching 18.644 compared to 17.556 people in December 2020.
Compared to December 2020, there is an increase in the staff of the Educational Service (2,0%) and in the staff of the Security Forces (1,2%) while the staff of the Public Service remained stable. There is a decrease in the permanent staff in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Public Service (-3,1%). On the contrary, there is an increase in the temporary staff in all three categories with the staff of the Educational Service presenting the largest (8,5%). The hourly wage is reduced (-0,9%) compared to December 2020.
Compared to November 2021, there is an increase in the staff of the Educational Service (1,2%) while there is a decrease in the staff of the Public Service (-0,2%). Security personnel remained stable. The same decrease is observed in the permanent staff in the categories of the Public Service and the Security Forces (-0,2%) while the staff of the Educational Service remained stable. There is an increase in the staff of the Educational Service (3,2%) and in the staff of the Security Forces (0,3%) while there is a decrease in the staff of the Public Service (-0,2%). The hourly wage is reduced (-1,4%) compared to November 2021.

METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Data coverage
The Government's employment includes the Public Service, the Education Service, the Security Forces and the Hourly Government Workers. The Public Service includes the permanent and temporary employees of the Ministries, Departments and Services. The Educational Service includes the permanent and extraordinary educational staff that serves in the school units as well as the staff of the Productivity Center and the Higher Hotel Institute. The Security Forces include the Police, the Fire Department and the National Guard. Hourly Staff includes regular, temporary and seasonal employees.
The data do not include the Members of the House of Representatives (Members of Parliament and Representatives of Religious Groups).
Data source
The source of the data concerning the employment in the Government is the General Accounting Office and it concerns the persons who were paid in the specific month, regardless of the period and the duration of their employment.
