Deputy Government Spokesperson Niovi Parisinou issued a written statement regarding the decisions of the Council of Ministers.
During its meeting, the Council of Ministers decided to approve the construction/erection/replacement of 45 lifeguard towers throughout Cyprus within the framework of the SALAMIS National Plan, Safety of Organized Beaches. The expenditure of 2.4 million euros will be covered by a 50% contribution from the Ministry of the Interior and the remaining 50% from the local authorities involved, either from the Municipality or the community to which the specific beach geographically belongs. The project will be completed within 2023. With the implementation of the project, both services and infrastructure on our beaches are being streamlined and upgraded.
The updated Grant Plan for the Revitalization of Rural, Mountainous and Remote Areas through the Creation of Authentic Experiences to Enrich and Upgrade the Tourism Product was approved. In addition to the interim installment of 50% of the total eligible cost of the investment provided for in the already announced plan, the possibility of an advance payment without guarantee of up to 20% and a maximum of 60,000 euros will be provided.
