President: Projects over 1 billion euros for the Local Government

Projects for the Local Government totaling 1 billion 217 thousand euros were announced and launched, which came from suggestions of local actors in combination with the prudent, structured and specific economic policy that we followed, said President Anastasiadis, welcoming the inaugural .

In the greeting, as transmitted by the GTP, the President said that the construction of the Municipal Hall in a central area for the Municipality, and the concentration in a single point of the provided services required by the operation of a Municipality, is expected to contribute to the best service of the citizens and the easier completion of their work as well as to upgrade the smooth operation of the Municipal Authority, contributing to the saving of time and to the reduction of the operating expenses.

At the same time, he said, the operation of the Megaron of additional spaces, such as those of the event hall, the meeting and lecture hall, the Municipal Library, the Municipal Theater and the open spaces, highlight it as a building with added value for the citizens, and not only but also the citizens of the region. The theater will significantly serve the cultural needs of the area.

In addition, the construction of the Palace along the main axis of Archbishop Makarios Avenue is expected to contribute to the development of the area and its upgrade as a viable and important cultural, commercial and administrative center of Ypsonas, said President Anastasiadis.

In his greeting, the President noted that despite the difficult conditions that the Government had to manage as a result of the economic crisis, it focused on those actions that would allow us to restart the economy. He specifically referred to the measures for the improvement of the road network at a cost of 1.1 million euros, to the construction of landscaping projects at a cost of 542 thousand and to the completion of the works for the expansion of the DG Primary School of Ypsonas, cost 558 thousand euros.

He also stated that the project of widening and improving Makarios Avenue (section within the core of the Municipality - Phase A), costing two million euros, is being implemented with the construction projects starting in early 2018.
He also said that the budgets of 2018 include the upgrade of the Second Primary School of Ypsonas, the cost of which amounts to 1.5 million euros. The works for the execution of the project are expected to start in 2018, while at the same time, the Municipality in the context of the annual state sponsorship receives an amount of one million 130 thousand euros.

The President expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Parliament approved in the supplementary budget the line for the repayment of the guaranteed loans of the Local Authorities, totaling 178 million euros, as well as the recent decision to write off 18 million euros for debts of Communities to the Councils. so, as he said, there was no danger of being deleted.

"I welcome the behavior of the parliamentary parties, it is only through the cooperation of the Government and the Parliament that we can achieve a lot," he said.

President Anastasiadis, in another point of his greeting, referred to the possibility of financing the projects of the Municipalities from the loan with the European Investment Bank, amounting to 200 million euros.
