An interview with the British Mirror was granted by a former fellow prisoner of 74-year-old David Hunter, who is accused of murdering his wife in Tremithousa.
He said his release after 16 months was bittersweet as he left his friend David behind.
He added that “(the 74-year-old) talked a lot about his daughter and about meeting his wife, Janice. “He clearly loved his wife and wanted to help her. There's no way he's a murderer. Even the prison guards were on his side. He was wondering why he is in prison, since he is 75 years old and a good man."
According to what he stated in the same medium, after his release he speaks twice a week on the phone with David.
The British ex-convict did not miss the opportunity to blame the Cypriot authorities for the handling of his own case. This person was sentenced to prison for causing a fire.
He complains that he was taken to a police station in the early morning, when he was drunk and had a psychological breakdown. He also claims he was taken into custody without a lawyer present, with police telling him if he confessed it would make his trial easier.
