The Deputy Ministry of Innovation has announced that the contract has been signed to modernize the online presence of the Republic of Cyprus, through the redesign of the state websites, which will now be accessible through the state's new digital portal, gov.cy.

As mentioned, the project aims, on the one hand, to establish a modern and unified image for all government services, and primarily, to improve the experience of citizens when browsing the government websites.

The project was awarded after a competitive process by the IT Services Department of the Deputy Ministry to EY Cyprus, at a cost of €1,1 million, while its implementation will be completed in two (2) phases, with the first 65 websites to be developed within 2023 .

Specifically, the design or redesign of more than 250 websites in total, with a modern and user-friendly aesthetic, design and functional approach and interactive applications, based on the highest standards of design, usability, accessibility and security, is foreseen. At the same time, special emphasis is placed on the organization, development and continuous updating of the content of the websites, so as to ensure quick and easy access for the citizen and other interested parties - such as international organizations and foreign investors - to valid information and updates. To this end, relevant officials from all government agencies will be trained to write and edit content in a language that is simple, understandable, comprehensive, useful and up-to-date.

The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Kyriakos Kokkinos, noted that this is one of the most important digital transformation projects of the Deputy Ministry, of key importance for the modernization of the state and with a direct impact on the daily life of citizens.

As he said, with content and functions that will be constantly enriched and upgraded, our goal is for gov.cy to be the one and only point of contact with the State as well as a source of valid information and direct service to the citizen.

"Government websites are a point of reference for the Republic of Cyprus, they are our image at home and abroad. Through our collaboration with EY, as well as all the parties involved, I am sure that we will radically upgrade this image, strengthening and giving credibility to our state", he said.

Giorgos Tziortzis, Head of Consulting Services at EY Cyprus stated that "we are excited to undertake this extremely important and complex project. The redesign of the digital presence of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus will highlight its modern and unified identity and will facilitate citizens and businesses in their daily information and contact with the government".

He also said that this project promises to improve the lives of all of us and contribute to building new relations of cooperation and trust between the state and society.

"We want to thank the Cypriot Government for the trust in EY Cyprus and its people, which is confirmed by the assignment of this project", he concluded.
