Police inform the public that it has been observed that recently various malicious e-mails (fraudulent e-mails) have been sent to various e-mail addresses, which are presented as being sent by a specific Cypriot internet and e-mail service company.
Specifically, e-mail users of this company receive e-mails that are presented as being sent by the company itself and are informed that their e-mail has been accessed from abroad in the morning. Through the message, the recipients are invited as if they did not have this access, to proceed to change the security code of their e-mail, through an electronic link (link) listed in the suspicious message.
These messages are entirely deceptive and malicious. The public is called upon to be especially careful when receiving such messages and in no case to reply to the sender or follow the electronic link.
In addition, they need to change their password through their provider's official website and use the latest malware protection software and the latest updates to their computer operating system.
The Cybercrime Office is available to the public or companies for reporting a complaint and the public is invited to visit the Police website www.police.gov.cy for reporting through the online cybercrime reporting platform https://cybercrime.police .gov.cy.
To contact the Cybercrime Office, the public can call 22-808200. The Cybercrime Office is open daily, including weekends, between 7.00am. and 7.00 p.m.
