The EAC informs the public about new incidents of sending misleading electronic messages (emails) to unsuspecting consumers.
These messages falsely claim that the electricity bill remains unpaid with the title 'FINAL NOTICE: Unpaid HHA Bill 11256285404 – Risk of Interruption' urging the recipient to follow an attached link and proceed with the payment of their bill.
It is emphatically clarified that these messages do not originate from the EAC and constitute an attempt at electronic fraud (phishing).
The Agency urges the public to be particularly careful with emails that include links or attached files, as these may redirect to misleading or malicious websites, regardless of what is initially displayed.
