In his statements in Larnaca, the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, referred, among other things, to the issue of hiring an advisor to the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
Specifically, the President of the Republic said that "we moved within the framework that existed, the framework that we found and it was working. From the facts it appears that this framework was not correct and, yes, mistakes were made. I immediately met with the Auditor General. In the next Council of Ministers, a specific proposal will be adopted which is currently being prepared in collaboration with the Auditor General, the Legislation Commissioner, and the Legal Service of the country and will be followed according to the standards that exist, perhaps even more strictly, for parliamentary collaborators".
Asked if he considers that he also made personal mistakes, in the light of a newspaper publication about the appointment of his maid of honor, the President of the Republic said "first, let's not make anyone personal. It is not right to impersonate anyone. And I want to say something. When I started the election campaign, I was not alone, but some people even stopped talking to me because I chose to follow a lonely path. And some people left their jobs to be by my side in this difficult effort and it was shown by the result that these people through their efforts, through their work brought results. So, let some people continue to beat me, let them not beat any other human being."
