Meeting of the National Security Council, convened by the President of the Republic in the afternoon.
According to the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letympiotis, the President of the Republic called the National Security Council for a meeting this afternoon regarding the developments in the Middle East, the emerging crisis and the effects that are expected to affect our country.
The meeting will be attended by the Ministers of the Interior, Defense, Public Order, Deputy Minister of the President, Government representative, Deputy Minister of Tourism, the Director of the press office of the republic, the Chief of the National Guard, the Chief of Police, the Commander of Civil Defense, the National Security Adviser and the Directors General of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport.
The Security Council will be presented with the latest data, in relation to the emerging crisis, the situation will be evaluated as it develops and how it might affect our region in general and the country in particular. Further preventive measures that can be taken towards the proper preparation of the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus will be discussed. The session will also focus on our role in providing humanitarian aid but also on its significant contribution to third country repatriation efforts.
