PtB: Full alignment of Cyprus with EU decisions on Ukraine

The President of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, who is completing a working visit to Berlin today, Wednesday, underlined yesterday the full alignment of Cyprus with the decisions of the EU regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Mrs. Dimitriou had separate meetings with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Michael Roth and Members of the Committee and with the Chairman Anton Hofreiter and Members of the European Affairs Committee.

A statement from the Parliament states that Mrs. Dimitriou informed the German MPs regarding the Cyprus problem and the escalating Turkish provocations against Cyprus and Greece.

There was also an exchange of views on the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which the EU is called upon to manage. The Speaker of the Parliament underlined Cyprus' full alignment with the EU's decisions on this issue, pointing out the need to collectively address the complex challenges it faces Europe, such as the energy crisis, the food crisis, environmental challenges and increasing migratory pressures, by further strengthening cooperation and showing more solidarity between Member States.

Yesterday the President of the Parliament had a meeting with the President of the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag) Bärbel Bas.
