A food packaging factory in Alethriko, Larnaka province, was completely destroyed by a fire that broke out last night.

KYPE information from the Police state that around 20:20 on the evening of Tuesday, October 29, a fire broke out in a food packaging plant located on Anexartisias avenue on the old Larnaca-Limessou road in Alethriko.

The fire was noticed by the workers of the packaging plant who at the given moment were walking to their living quarters adjacent to the building.

7 fire trucks from EMAK and Larnaca Fire Stations assisted in extinguishing the fire.

The scene was visited by members of the Kofinos regional police station of the TAE and the Larnaca ADE for on-the-spot examinations.

The scene was cordoned off and remains under guard, since the tests to determine the exact cause of the fire will continue this morning.

In addition, in a post on platform X, the Press Representative of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, states that the building was a packaging plant for organic olive oil and carob honey.

The building, equipment and products were completely destroyed by the fire, but the olive press was not affected.

Firefighters worked during the night and will continue to work today due to the peculiarity and flammability of the materials.

The causes will be examined with the competent services when and if complete extinguishment is done and the static adequacy of the building is ensured.

TAE Larnaca continues the exams.
