A fire broke out early this morning in a pile of school equipment in the yard of a high school in Larnaca, and part of the building's masonry was affected by the smoke.
In a post on Platform X, Andreas Kettis, Press Secretary for the Fire Service, states that at around 2:05 in the morning of Friday, May 23, "two staffed fire engines from the Larnaca Fire Stations responded to a fire that was in a pile of various school equipment in a high school yard in Larnaca."
The smoke "also affected part of the building's masonry. Water hoses and breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire."
During the night, the scene was guarded by the Police and an investigation into the causes of the fire will be conducted today.
