Passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos airports set an all-time record for September after 1,4 million passengers were handled, registering a 7% increase compared to last month.
In a statement by Hermes Airports, it is stated that "September ended on a positive note in terms of passenger traffic at the two Cyprus airports, as 1,4 million passengers traveled to and from Larnaca and Paphos airports, giving yet another boost to the upward trend course of this year".
"Compared to September 2023, passenger traffic was up 7%, while this year's September performance is an all-time record for the month," it said.
It is added that "the first places for Larnaca airport are occupied by the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland and Germany, while respectively for Paphos airport the largest numbers of passengers came from the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Israel and France".
Moreover, "passenger traffic continued to rise throughout the nine months. Specifically, in the period January - September, a total of 9,5 million passengers were handled by the two airports of Cyprus, registering a 5% increase compared to the same period last year."
It is noted that in October the flight schedule is still around a thousand flights per week, while the data for the upcoming winter season are very positive so far.
"More specifically, for the November-March period, 300 thousand more positions have been added compared to last year's corresponding period, which was already increased", it is added.
The Director of Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication of Hermes Airports, Maria Kouroupi, stated that "it is very important to maintain the good prospects for a stable growth and to invest in the development of year-round connectivity which will have multiple benefits for our country".
