An unimaginable incident occurred in a hospital outside the NHS, where an 88-year-old patient was summarily expelled.

According to the complaint that reached the Patient Observatory of the Cyprus Patient Associations Federation and which is published today by the Phileleftheros newspaper, the elderly woman was hospitalized in a state hospital. Doctors decided that the 88-year-old did not need to be operated on due to her age.
However, the elderly woman's daughter was referred to a hospital outside the NHS in order to treat her mother. During the examination she received from an orthopedist, he informed them that the 88-year-old woman needs surgery, which alienated the family.

While the elderly woman was being treated at the hospital outside the NHS, the relatives asked to be informed about the risks that the 88-year-old might face if she were to enter the operating room and also about the cost of the operation.

According to the complaint, the doctor's attitude immediately changed and he ordered the 88-year-old woman to leave the hospital as there were other patients waiting.

Mesimeri and Kati hosted OSAK Press Representative Dimitris Lambrianidis, who spoke about the incident in question.
